Howling Dog® Kennel is owned by Ivana Nolke and is located in Salcha, Alaska, which is near Fairbanks (the “mushing capital of the world”). The kennel was established in 1982 by Jim Nolke (Ivana's former husband), and there are currently 15 dogs in the kennel (racing dogs, retired dogs & yearlings). The racing sled dogs are pointer/husky crosses. The pointers come from the best Scandinavian racing lines and have been crossed with top Alaskan lines. Howling Dog® Kennel was one of the first kennels in the United States to cross Scandinavian pointers with Alaskan huskies for racing purposes. Ivana is specializing in sprint racing, including the 8-dog, 10-dog, and short open class events.

We are proud of our performances in top sprint races including the Limited North American Championship, the Tok Race of Champions, and the Woman's Fur Rondy World Championship. Our accomplishments include ISDRA Regional 8-dog Champion, IFSS World Cup (2nd Place, 8/10 dog), ADMA Challenge Series Points Champion (8 dog class), North Pole Winter Carnival Series Champion (10 dog class), and Open North American Championship finisher.

Dogs born and raised in Howling Dog® Kennel can be seen racing all over the world - including these countries: USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and South Africa.

BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENTS WITHIN THE MOST RECENT YEARS:

2003/2004 - North Pole Championship Series Champion (10 dog class)

2004/2005 - Alaska Dog Musher Association Point Series Champion (8 dog class)

- IFSS World Championship: 4th place (8 dog class)

2005/2006 - Tok Race Of Champions: 4th place (8 dog class) - out of 30 teams!!!
