Astaxanthin, a naturally occurring carotenoid pigment, is a powerful biological antioxidant. Astaxanthin exhibits strong free radical scavenging activity and protects against lipid peroxidation and oxidative damage of LDL-cholesterol, cell membranes, cells, and tissues. This product contains all-natural, functional nutrients that enhance canine health and nutrition, providing significant antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and immune response benefits. Our Astaxanthin is derived from a unique strain of the micro-algae Haematococcus pluvialis. 

Astaxanthin exhibits superior antioxidant properties  to beta-carotene, vitamin C, and is a more effective antioxidant than vitamin E. Research has shown that natural astaxanthin has up to 550 times the antioxidant activity of vitamin E and 10 times the antioxidant activity of beta-carotene.

Astaxanthin in sled dogs:

Astaxanthin, a new "revolutionary" supplement,  is used as an anti-stress agent for sled dogs. It minimizes weight loss and improves immunity due to crowding, extreme temperatures and other sudden environmental changes. Most importantly Astaxanthin plays a big roll in the prevention of muscular dysfunction such as exertional rhabdomyolysis (also known as exertional myopathy or tying-up syndrome).  

Feeding directions:
Feed one tablespoon for 13 dogs / day (or 1/4 of a tsp per dog / day).

The expiration date of this product is based on proper storage in a tighly closed container at or below 4 degrees Celsius. At room temperature, shelf life might be reduced to 6 months from receipt of product. We recommend storing your supply of Astaxanthin in your freezer.
