A Determination of ADMA Trail Lengths and Comparison of Dog Team Speeds

The objective of this study was to determine what changes had been made to the Alaska Sled Dog Racing Association (ADMA) race trails and to calculate average speeds which could be used to compare team performance and especially pointer-cross teams versus Alaska Husky teams over time. This study examined trail changes and team speeds for racers from the ADMA Mushers Hall from 1988 to 2004 and for the Open North American Championship (ONAC) Sled Dog Race from 1980 to 2004.
